What is the ideal tempo for a full swing? Is there a different ideal tempo for wedge play?

Thank you,

Nick

+Nick W The research I've seen shows a 3:1 ratio (backswing to downswing) for the full swing and about 2:1 for wedge play. But I don't know what kind of standard deviation or range was observed. Averages without ranges can be dangerous to apply blindly.

That’s what I had always heard as well. I was going to add some tempo training to my swing work.

I was just going to shoot for 3:1 and go for it (my tempo in my swing right now is pretty close to that already), unless there is a better recommendation or way to train/practice tempo.

Thank you!

+Nick W While I do a fair about of rhythm and sequence training, I can't say I do a lot of specific tempo training. Other than with a metronome for putting. If you have some successful ways to train it, please share it with all of us.

Hey Tyler,
I just do some very basic practicing using Blast Motion. I will turn on the feedback for tempo, then take swings without the feedback, then go back and test using the feedback. So it’s nothing fancy/complicated, but it seems to work for me.
