I am 71, in good shape, willing to practice, knowledgeable about the golf swing, and looking for more consistency. Default miss is push fade; occasional fat/thin shot.

+rgailun1113 The timing of when your arms goes flat is quite late. It's part of how you load your trail shoulder elevation move in transition. I think you'd struggle more if you get your arms more vertical at the top of the swing without addressing that shoulder steepening first. You can try it and let us know. But those two words are directly connected.
So yes, there would be an advantage to getting the arm up higher if your transition changes, but if you don't change the transition, then getting the arms higher would likely make you hit it worse from being too steep and disconnected in the downswing.
