Hackmotion shows components from multiple patterns

I'm a 7 handicap who averages 280 off the tee (gps data), but I lack clubface control.
I play a draw, but hit 1-3 blocks per round. I have to pay close attention to closing the clubface with my driver.

The Hackmotion showed me elements of all three patterns. I have Pattern C wrist loading - controlling it has been extremely educational. This allows me more body rotation and lower spin drives.

I'm wondering what to do with the purple wrist rotational component.

On a standard swing, my purple line cuts off at impact like Pattern B. I have natural flexion at the top.

If I try to speed it up to Pattern A or Pattern C - I'm too slow, but maybe this is the problem!

Of all the patterns, I think I'm farthest from a pure Pattern A.

So I'm wondering if I should approach this as fixing my problems, or copying A/B/C.
What is the thinking on something like this?

Hi Thomas,

In both cases, you're increasing your radial well into the downswing (more like the long drive pattern). This can add speed, but as you've seen, it can be tricky to time for 18 holes.

I agree that your rotation is probably closest to pattern B, but I also think it's okay to have elements of each pattern. I think whichever pattern you try to model, improving your ulnar deviation is a key component for consistency (especially when trying to eliminate the block).

In addition to trying to work toward a model, I would keep contact and ball flight in mind. Improving the ulnar should make the ball flight curve a little less dramatic, but should also help make shallower ground contact.

Good luck!

Tyler, thank you for the response!

I have 2 questions:

I notice that when I work on the conventional A pattern, if I focus on rotation, my rotation always occurs a little too late. After the “top” - how should I understand this and work on it?

Also the difference in rotation for pattern A and pattern B is something I’d love to understand better. Maybe the subject of a video about what is creating the difference in the rotation curve post impact!

Good suggestion on a video, the rotation graph is a little trick because it is a global measurement. It factors in the movement of the whole arm as well as the body. If you want help with the rotation graph, I'd suggest posting a video of your swing. The rotation value could be influenced by the body pivot or swallowing movementin transition.

As far as the different patterns, there will be a difference in the graph based on the pivot style differences as well as grip strength tendencies, but you're right. Maybe a video on this topic can help. There are some common pitfalls to watch out for. Thanks for the suggestion!
