Power loss

Hi all, as the title suggests my irons that aren’t getting the distance I would like to see. Quite often have thin contact. Figure it’s either not a full enough turn, club face open, not enough lean or a mix of all. Any ideas?

+Sam K Hi Sam,

It looks to me like it's more of the open club face and path going left late (giving more of the thin glancing blow). Looking at the face on, it looks like you have good shaft lean, but your upper body is well behind the left hip. Try the merry go round drill to help work on covering it better and get higher face contact. I'd also play around with "face rotation in the follow through" https://golfsmartacademy.com/golf-instruction/club-face-calibration-follow-through/

Good luck and keep us posted

Thanks Tyler, will try those and post my results. Just to clarify, is the upper body behind issue due to not enough weight transfer forward or too much side bend or "other".

+Sam K Too much side bend/extension. Not enough abs/core in the early downswing. You could look at the "beat the drum" drill. https://golfsmartacademy.com/golf-instruction/beat-the-drum/
