Now that you are in a good set up position, let’s figure out how your arms should fit into the process. If you get in set up position, and then just let your arms hang, this is the “bubble” that your hands should be in. They can be a little forward, or a little backward, but they should be in this bubble. One way to check your hand location compared to your set up, is to take your grip and let your arms swing, if you have the proper set up with the body, then the arms will hit the grip exactly where you took them off (or close to it). If you are too far away, then your arm will come way inside, if you are too close, then your arm will come way outside.

This drill is the setup armhang and it's looking at the amount of hang that you have in your arms and it's kind of a weird term that you probably never thought of but
00:00:09,000 --> 00:00:14,000
When I get into my good setup posture it's important to have your hands kind of in the right space
00:00:14,000 --> 00:00:20,000
You could see if I had them right here or if I had them right here my setup position would look a little awkward
00:00:20,000 --> 00:00:23,000
So how do you figure out exactly how far away your hands should be?
00:00:25,000 --> 00:00:29,000
Well, a lot of people have talked about having your hands a certain distance away
00:00:30,000 --> 00:00:34,000
From you, but really that doesn't work too well dependent on your arm lengths
00:00:34,000 --> 00:00:37,000
You know the length of your spine how much your hips are sitting back
00:00:37,000 --> 00:00:44,000
So a better way to look at it is if you were to take your right hand off the club and just let it hang naturally and
00:00:45,000 --> 00:00:49,000
Let it swing it should pretty much hit the grip where you're gripping it
00:00:50,000 --> 00:00:53,000
You see that if I just take my hand off and let it swing back
00:00:53,000 --> 00:00:59,000
It pretty much matches up where it should be if I were to stick my hands further away and let my arm hang
00:00:59,000 --> 00:01:04,000
You can see how my hands are now sitting too far inside same thing if I was
00:01:04,000 --> 00:01:08,000
Really close to the ball and I let my arm hang now
00:01:08,000 --> 00:01:17,000
I would have a split grip so to find the right amount just use that right arm as a measure for where your hand should be in space
00:01:17,000 --> 00:01:19,000
Because when you swing through
00:01:19,000 --> 00:01:22,000
They're basically gonna swing out into this natural alignment
00:01:23,000 --> 00:01:26,000
Given the amount of speed that the club is gonna be carrying through and back
00:01:26,000 --> 00:01:30,000
So it's a simple little drill it'll change depending on what shot you're hitting
00:01:30,000 --> 00:01:36,000
But you can figure out how much arm hang you should have for each club by relaxing the arm and seeing where it hits the grip
