Connecting The Hands To The Power Source

When you first start retraining a movement, each piece and action is going to feel very forced. However, the goal is to turn these pieces into an overall single movement. In this "connecting" video, we help you see how proper use of the body during transition will help drive the wrist movements if you let them happen.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:06,000
This concept video is connecting the hand so the power source in transition.

00:00:06,000 --> 00:00:12,000
So we have a lot of videos in here in transition because transition is really where all this

00:00:12,000 --> 00:00:18,000
intention of the downswing really begins and so a lot of swings break down by having

00:00:18,000 --> 00:00:22,000
port process or port intentions with this transition.

00:00:22,000 --> 00:00:29,000
So this concept video is to help you understand how the wrist motion should be connected

00:00:29,000 --> 00:00:34,000
to your lower body and happen as a result of this total body motion not just independent

00:00:34,000 --> 00:00:37,000
movements that kind of work together.

00:00:37,000 --> 00:00:45,000
So basically what we talk about happening in transition is the shaft flattening and the motor

00:00:45,000 --> 00:00:50,000
cycle happening so that the club face can start squaring kind of like this.

00:00:50,000 --> 00:00:57,000
Well what you'll see is that if you look at the timing of these movements that lower body

00:00:58,000 --> 00:01:04,000
initiating because this club has weight and my arms are kind of over here but they're tied to

00:01:04,000 --> 00:01:09,000
my shoulders. What'll happen is when my body starts to pull on my arms because of the weight of

00:01:09,000 --> 00:01:16,000
the club. If I'm truly leading from my lower body it's going to cause the shaft to flatten

00:01:16,000 --> 00:01:24,000
and the wrist to start flexing. If you let it so if I am trying to rotate my body and I'm trying to

00:01:24,000 --> 00:01:31,000
use the ground it will cause this shallow move in the arms. On the other hand if I get up to the top

00:01:31,000 --> 00:01:36,000
of the swing and my intention is to pull down with my arms and create speed with my arms and with

00:01:36,000 --> 00:01:43,000
my shoulders then it's going to make it very difficult for me to do these shallow movements with the

00:01:43,000 --> 00:01:51,000
arms. So if you're struggling with getting this piece then focus on kind of the holistic approach

00:01:51,000 --> 00:01:57,000
and blending it and connecting it to the lower body and how you're powering your swing and then

00:01:57,000 --> 00:02:03,000
you can feel about feel yourself letting these arm movements that we teach here in the transition

00:02:03,000 --> 00:02:11,000
section happen as opposed to forcing them. Now initially you're probably going to have to force them

00:02:11,000 --> 00:02:17,000
and so for a few weeks while you're working on forcing these movements what you'll find is

00:02:18,000 --> 00:02:23,000
you're timing it'll be a little off and it won't be as good as once it becomes connected into

00:02:23,000 --> 00:02:28,000
one movement and that's ultimately your goal is to take these pieces that we discuss here

00:02:28,000 --> 00:02:34,000
in each section and then blend them into one movement so we have a really solid motor pattern

00:02:34,000 --> 00:02:41,000
the develops consistent repeatable power for your golf swing. So if I'm exaggerating it and I'm

00:02:41,000 --> 00:02:49,000
kind of doing that pump or a broken transition I can kind of force it by super relaxing and

00:02:49,000 --> 00:02:54,000
trying to make my arms feel almost like noodles and as my body is kind of powering this in

00:02:54,000 --> 00:03:03,000
higher swing. So then if I was to execute I can either do it kind of in a piecemeal or I kind of

00:03:03,000 --> 00:03:11,000
really let that kind of exaggerated all the wrist motions happening from my body happen or I could

00:03:12,000 --> 00:03:21,000
do it a little bit more at speed. Kind of like so. So we're going connecting the power source

00:03:21,000 --> 00:03:25,000
to what the hands are doing and ultimately that'll build a more solid and repeatable pattern

00:03:25,000 --> 00:03:28,000
for your golf swing.
