Connecting Two Sides of Sequencing

The two sides of sequencing are getting the body to lead the downswing or to have the arms lag the club behind the body longer. If one is not working, you can work on the other end of the spectrum. The body leading often has a feeling of the hips moving sooner, more, or earlier. This can also feel like the core is rotating, which is more of a feeling of the belt or belly button feel. With the arms, the common feels that keep the arms behind longer are the feeling of the lead shoulder blade high or pinning the arm more across the chest or the trail arm feeling more connected, the trail shoulder blade back and down, the trail wrist more extended, or the trail arm in more of an external rotation feel.

00:00:05.100 --> 00:00:09.600
This drill is connecting the two sides of sequencing. So golfers

1
00:00:08.600 --> 00:00:12.100
are always trying to get into a

2
00:00:11.100 --> 00:00:14.800
better impact position. One of

3
00:00:14.800 --> 00:00:17.600
the common things that I'll hear or either. Oh, you

4
00:00:17.600 --> 00:00:21.400
know, I really need to get my body more open or I

5
00:00:20.400 --> 00:00:23.700
need to get my hands more ahead that

6
00:00:23.700 --> 00:00:26.100
I'm just kind of stalling and throwing with my

7
00:00:26.100 --> 00:00:29.200
arms. Well, there's two sides to that

8
00:00:29.200 --> 00:00:32.200
equation. So if you're working on one and it's not working you can always

9
00:00:32.200 --> 00:00:35.400
work on the other ultimately you'll probably have a feeling of

10
00:00:35.400 --> 00:00:38.700
one from each side and they'll blend together. The

11
00:00:38.700 --> 00:00:41.400
two sides are basically getting my body to lead

12
00:00:41.400 --> 00:00:44.700
longer or feeling like my arms

13
00:00:44.700 --> 00:00:47.600
keep the club back longer. It's the

14
00:00:47.600 --> 00:00:48.200
same relationship.

15
00:00:49.400 --> 00:00:52.200
If I get into this kind of

16
00:00:52.200 --> 00:00:55.600
impact position and then I was to just stand up

17
00:00:55.600 --> 00:00:58.500
and undo some of that rotation. The club is way

18
00:00:58.500 --> 00:01:01.400
back here. So if my

19
00:01:02.400 --> 00:01:05.200
My mind's concept or my brains concept is that the

20
00:01:05.200 --> 00:01:08.200
club is going to be like this at impact? Well, there's

21
00:01:08.200 --> 00:01:11.300
no way I could get my body to be open in order

22
00:01:11.300 --> 00:01:14.300
to get my body to be open. I have to have a feeling of the

23
00:01:14.300 --> 00:01:17.300
arms being more behind or the club being more behind

24
00:01:17.300 --> 00:01:20.200
that often happens for either feeling like the left

25
00:01:20.200 --> 00:01:23.300
arm is a little bit more across or high kind of blocking because

26
00:01:23.300 --> 00:01:26.300
if this arm pulls down that tends to bring the club

27
00:01:26.300 --> 00:01:29.100
more in front of my chest or this will feel like the

28
00:01:29.100 --> 00:01:32.500
right arm is more in or the right wrist is

29
00:01:32.500 --> 00:01:35.300
in more extension kind of more of that shot put

30
00:01:35.300 --> 00:01:37.900
feel where the club is back sort of like this.

31
00:01:38.700 --> 00:01:41.200
But if I'm doing this and then my body

32
00:01:41.200 --> 00:01:45.000
tends to solve then I need to go at more the complementary piece

33
00:01:44.200 --> 00:01:47.500
which the complementary piece. So the arms

34
00:01:47.500 --> 00:01:50.500
being back is if the arms are back now if

35
00:01:50.500 --> 00:01:53.300
I turn my lower body and my belly

36
00:01:53.300 --> 00:01:56.300
button and my chest, but my shoulders are still

37
00:01:56.300 --> 00:02:00.000
square. If I turn my body that brings those

38
00:01:59.200 --> 00:02:02.700
arms that are behind me to the

39
00:02:02.700 --> 00:02:03.100
golf ball.

40
00:02:03.900 --> 00:02:06.500
So if that's the case, then I have to feel more

41
00:02:06.500 --> 00:02:09.200
the arms are staying back but the hips and

42
00:02:09.200 --> 00:02:13.300
the body are pointing more towards the Target in addition

43
00:02:13.300 --> 00:02:16.300
as they're pointing more towards the target. They're gonna

44
00:02:16.300 --> 00:02:19.500
be going more into the side Bend and ultimately into this extension

45
00:02:19.500 --> 00:02:22.300
on the way through if I don't have

46
00:02:22.300 --> 00:02:25.500
either of those pieces, they're probably not

47
00:02:25.500 --> 00:02:29.200
going to work in in isolation. So when

48
00:02:28.200 --> 00:02:31.500
I do these Merry-Go-Round drills some

49
00:02:31.500 --> 00:02:34.500
days, I'll feel more like the arms or pinned and

50
00:02:34.500 --> 00:02:37.200
or behind and some days. I'll feel

51
00:02:37.200 --> 00:02:40.600
more like a stretch on this side or this lead

52
00:02:40.600 --> 00:02:43.400
hip is turned or something relating to getting the

53
00:02:43.400 --> 00:02:44.800
body going soon. So

54
00:02:45.700 --> 00:02:48.500
today if I was to do a nine to three, I'm going

55
00:02:48.500 --> 00:02:51.800
to feel that combination mostly of

56
00:02:51.800 --> 00:02:54.200
that left side. That's what I was feeling today. But I'm gonna

57
00:02:54.200 --> 00:02:57.300
add a little bit of a

58
00:02:57.300 --> 00:03:00.500
feeling of the arms keeping the club back in lag.

59
00:03:01.900 --> 00:03:04.400
A little bit longer and so that one I felt

60
00:03:04.400 --> 00:03:07.400
like I was my body pulling away from my arms, but

61
00:03:07.400 --> 00:03:10.200
some days I'm gonna feel more the arms working back.

62
00:03:10.200 --> 00:03:10.600
So

63
00:03:11.600 --> 00:03:14.900
If you're if you're struggling with seeing your

64
00:03:14.900 --> 00:03:17.400
body open at impact

65
00:03:17.400 --> 00:03:20.300
and you're seeing more of these arms kind

66
00:03:20.300 --> 00:03:23.400
of throwing you have two different directions. You can go either work on

67
00:03:23.400 --> 00:03:26.600
getting the pivot better getting the art the body to lead.

68
00:03:26.600 --> 00:03:29.200
But in order to do so, you're gonna also have to feel like

69
00:03:29.200 --> 00:03:32.500
the arms stay back. Usually one thought from each of

70
00:03:32.500 --> 00:03:36.400
those two buckets will ultimately help you decode or

71
00:03:36.400 --> 00:03:40.000
break down what's causing you to have more of this early release

72
00:03:39.400 --> 00:03:42.000
all not, you know

73
00:03:42.200 --> 00:03:45.300
more of the amateur body impact position. So having one

74
00:03:45.300 --> 00:03:48.400
from each will ultimately give you a pretty good feeling that you can build

75
00:03:48.400 --> 00:03:51.100
into a little bit better Mary go around

76
00:03:51.100 --> 00:03:54.500
or a little bit better impact position. So don't get too frustrated. If

77
00:03:54.500 --> 00:03:57.300
you're struggling with one area or the other probably gonna

78
00:03:57.300 --> 00:04:01.000
have to go back and forth and find a couple feels for the arms. Hopefully just

79
00:04:00.300 --> 00:04:03.800
one couple feels for the body again, ultimately.

80
00:04:03.800 --> 00:04:06.400
Hopefully just one and then trying to

81
00:04:06.400 --> 00:04:09.200
execute the two of those feels together like

82
00:04:10.800 --> 00:04:13.400
more like that and that will ultimately help

83
00:04:13.400 --> 00:04:17.000
you build your tour quality

84
00:04:16.700 --> 00:04:18.000
impact position.
