Drop Then Wipe - Advanced

The drop then wipe move is a way to practice blending the fall of the arms during transition to the extension of the arms during the release. This can be combined with the side arm throw or the zorro loops to make it feel more dynamic.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:03,000
The drill is the advanced drop then white.

00:00:03,000 --> 00:00:09,000
So the drop in the wipe is a drill for blending the transition into the release.

00:00:09,000 --> 00:00:14,000
The advanced version just gets into a little bit more details into what this arm should

00:00:14,000 --> 00:00:15,000
actually be doing.

00:00:15,000 --> 00:00:19,000
So during this drop, we're going to break it down a little bit more.

00:00:19,000 --> 00:00:25,000
During this drop, I want you to feel like your arm is actually going to externally rotate

00:00:25,000 --> 00:00:30,000
as your shoulder works a little bit more into retraction or that shoulder blade works more

00:00:30,000 --> 00:00:31,000
in towards your spine.

00:00:31,000 --> 00:00:36,000
So it's already a little bit in towards your spine at the top and then as you drop, it's

00:00:36,000 --> 00:00:42,000
going to have this feeling of working a little bit more in towards it.

00:00:42,000 --> 00:00:47,000
Now as we get into the wipe, this wipe is going to be a little bit more with your palm

00:00:47,000 --> 00:00:49,000
up but you're palm facing out.

00:00:49,000 --> 00:00:53,000
So it's no longer really an effective wiping in the counter because now I've only got that

00:00:53,000 --> 00:00:59,000
part that would be pushing stuff away but it's still working across your body and it's going

00:00:59,000 --> 00:01:04,000
to be more in this orientation like so as opposed to like this.

00:01:04,000 --> 00:01:09,000
So it would be more of there's the drop and then there's the wipe.

00:01:09,000 --> 00:01:14,000
Now if I finish that wipe, I'm going to have that little palm push or palm strike at

00:01:14,000 --> 00:01:15,000
the end.

00:01:15,000 --> 00:01:21,000
So it's going to be drop externally rotate, cup the wrist and then wipe in extend.

00:01:21,000 --> 00:01:26,000
So that's the advanced version of the drop then wipe and that helps kind of take care

00:01:26,000 --> 00:01:32,000
of the motorcycle move as we get into this delivery position and allows you to just be aggressive

00:01:32,000 --> 00:01:35,000
in letting your arms and your legs extend through the release.
