The impact bag can be useful for stopping the club at a specific time. For many golfers, I like to have the club stopped just after impact. For the driver version of this drill, put the impact bag about six inches to a foot outside the lead foot. Then practice slower swings hitting the bag. There are two helpful keys to pay attention to. What height did the driver hit the bag? Where was the clubface pointing?
If the club hits the bag too high, then you're likely narrowing the arc significantly with a scoop or a chicken wing.
If the club hits the bag and the face is pointing way to the right or way to the left, then you have a club face control problem.
Use the impact bag to train your 9-to-3, 10-to-2 for better flat spot and club face control.
