Left Tilt In Transition?

During transition, the left side is going to continue to go into "left side bend". This can feel weird because of the rotation of the spine. If you go into left side bend, then your left shoulder will stay low until the release begins. If you do it correctly, and you are used to going into right side bend early in the downswing, this will feel as if your shoulders stay level longer.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:04,000
In this video, we're going to refine the left shoulder side bend through transition.

00:00:04,000 --> 00:00:09,000
Because I've had a couple of questions about how, basically, during the release, the right

00:00:09,000 --> 00:00:13,000
shoulder goes low, during transition, the left shoulder goes low, how does that actually happen?

00:00:13,000 --> 00:00:16,000
So I'm going to help clarify that.

00:00:16,000 --> 00:00:21,000
When you go to the top of the swing on 3D, what I'm going to see is here's at the top of

00:00:21,000 --> 00:00:25,000
the swing, and then I'm going to continue going down before it goes to the right.

00:00:25,000 --> 00:00:28,000
Or I'm going to continue going to the left before it goes to the right.

00:00:28,000 --> 00:00:34,000
The problem is I'm twisted like facing like so as that movement happens.

00:00:34,000 --> 00:00:42,000
So what'll end up feeling like is it'll feel like my shoulder stay a level longer.

00:00:42,000 --> 00:00:46,000
Because if I was to go instantly into right side bend, what'll happen is I get to the

00:00:46,000 --> 00:00:48,000
top of the swing and this right shoulder comes up.

00:00:48,000 --> 00:00:52,000
And now as I come down, I have too much of this right side bend.

00:00:52,000 --> 00:00:54,000
I'll do that facing the camera.

00:00:54,000 --> 00:01:00,000
So if I go up here and I don't side bend to the left, I get very level and now it's very

00:01:00,000 --> 00:01:01,000
hard for me to hit the ground.

00:01:01,000 --> 00:01:06,000
I'll tend to battle, fat shah, or thin shots, and I'll tend to battle big hooks, especially

00:01:06,000 --> 00:01:10,000
when my iron's as my miss.

00:01:10,000 --> 00:01:17,000
So the feeling of this left shoulder going down will be until my hands get into release

00:01:17,000 --> 00:01:18,000
position.

00:01:18,000 --> 00:01:23,000
If I had the club across my shoulders, you'll see that that left shoulder is still slightly

00:01:23,000 --> 00:01:24,000
lower than the right.

00:01:24,000 --> 00:01:30,000
So it'll feel like these stay level or that left shoulder stays lower, not necessarily

00:01:30,000 --> 00:01:31,000
that it's bent to the left.

00:01:31,000 --> 00:01:33,000
That's confused a few people in the past.

00:01:33,000 --> 00:01:38,000
So this is a little bit of a clarification on how you're going to feel that actual movement.

00:01:38,000 --> 00:01:42,000
So just feel that that stays level longer and the way that you'll know you're doing

00:01:42,000 --> 00:01:48,000
it right is you won't be able to do anything but hit the ground because the sternum and

00:01:48,000 --> 00:01:50,000
the upper body will be in a better position.

00:01:50,000 --> 00:01:55,000
And as long as the sternum and the upper body is in a good position, it'll give you the

00:01:55,000 --> 00:02:00,000
space to start working on and creating that really good release that we're hoping to build.

00:02:00,000 --> 00:02:06,000
So work on that left shoulder staying level longer and that'll help you build a much

00:02:06,000 --> 00:02:07,000
more solid transition position.
