The follow through is a great position for identifying movements in the release. As you get better at 9 to 3 swings, you will have no problem stopping at the follow through. Looking at the follow through path, you can get an idea if you are early extending and lifting your arms, or if you are lacking side tilt and using too much trail arm internal rotation. If your release is in balance, then your stock swing should produce a parallel position in the follow through.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:04,000
The drill is path of the follow-through. So I've got the alignment
00:00:04,000 --> 00:00:07,000
set going down the line and basically what we're going to do is we're going to take a
00:00:07,000 --> 00:00:11,000
look at the follow-through position and just look at where the shaft is. So
00:00:11,000 --> 00:00:17,000
you're going to get up, get set up to a ball. You're not actually, you can hit
00:00:17,000 --> 00:00:22,000
I'm not actually going to but you absolutely can hit either nine to three or
00:00:22,000 --> 00:00:27,000
kind of half shots but what you're going to do is you're going to check that follow-through
00:00:27,000 --> 00:00:31,000
position kind of like so. So you got the side bend and the arms out. Now
00:00:31,000 --> 00:00:35,000
what you're going to be looking for is you're going to set up with an alignment
00:00:35,000 --> 00:00:39,000
stick pretty much even with your or parallel to your stance line or even with your
00:00:39,000 --> 00:00:46,000
toes. So now when I go through I roughly want the club to be parallel with
00:00:46,000 --> 00:00:51,000
that stance line. So I've got the club on the ground as I go through to follow-through
00:00:51,000 --> 00:00:54,000
position you can see that the club is roughly parallel out here. There's
00:00:54,000 --> 00:00:59,000
obviously two different scenarios I could have. One if I go to this follow-through
00:00:59,000 --> 00:01:03,000
position and the club is way out to the right. Most likely I've kind of early
00:01:03,000 --> 00:01:08,000
extended and lifted more with my arms through the shot as opposed to keeping my
00:01:08,000 --> 00:01:14,000
hips back and letting my upper body turn. So problem one would be two into out
00:01:14,000 --> 00:01:20,000
which we get the club kind of pointed there. Option two would be where I've got
00:01:20,000 --> 00:01:24,000
the club pointed way to the left. This will typically happen having too much
00:01:24,000 --> 00:01:29,000
right wrist and having this right shoulder get very high. If I was to continue
00:01:29,000 --> 00:01:34,000
side bending and take a little bit of the wrist out of it now this is pointed
00:01:34,000 --> 00:01:39,000
more in the direction of the target. So that would look more like this one. Ideally
00:01:39,000 --> 00:01:43,000
we're going to have the body kind of power this movement and then the arms just
00:01:43,000 --> 00:01:49,000
extending away from my body as they're coming up and in and left. So as my body
00:01:49,000 --> 00:01:54,000
continues to get my hands pointing directly away from me and towards the
00:01:54,000 --> 00:01:58,000
target my arms are still extending away from me. So this is a great way to check
00:01:58,000 --> 00:02:02,000
that follow-through position and make sure you're not predisposed to getting into
00:02:02,000 --> 00:02:05,000
one of the big swing misses.
