Set up to a golf ball using your normal bunker set up. Then, at a spot just behind the ball, smack the club straight down so that the entire club is below the golf ball. In order for the club to slide under the golf ball, this is at least how deep you will need the clubhead to go into the sand through impact. Then, take a swing, and try to get the club to match the club print in the sand as you swing to a full finish.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:03,000
This bunker drill is pre-setting impact.
00:00:03,000 --> 00:00:06,000
So just like we were pre-setting the impact
00:00:06,000 --> 00:00:09,000
in the impact section of Layer 1,
00:00:09,000 --> 00:00:12,000
we're also going to pre-set impact with the bunker
00:00:12,000 --> 00:00:15,000
to get used to hitting the sand.
00:00:15,000 --> 00:00:18,000
It's often, if you struggle with bunkers,
00:00:18,000 --> 00:00:20,000
you typically struggle with one of two things.
00:00:20,000 --> 00:00:23,000
You struggle with either blade of shots
00:00:23,000 --> 00:00:25,000
or shots that get left in the bunker.
00:00:25,000 --> 00:00:29,000
That's going to be addressed in the troubleshooting video,
00:00:29,000 --> 00:00:33,000
but if you're the one who tends to air more towards the side
00:00:33,000 --> 00:00:36,000
of blading the ball, you're not going to feel very comfortable
00:00:36,000 --> 00:00:39,000
having the club in the sand to begin with.
00:00:39,000 --> 00:00:41,000
Okay, so you're always going to kind of be flinching
00:00:41,000 --> 00:00:44,000
because you're scared of hitting it really, really fact
00:00:44,000 --> 00:00:46,000
because your path is probably a little too shallow.
00:00:46,000 --> 00:00:49,000
So the videos or the drills pretty simple.
00:00:49,000 --> 00:00:52,000
To pre-set impact, you're going to get first
00:00:52,000 --> 00:00:54,000
and your good setup position.
00:00:54,000 --> 00:00:56,000
And then remember, the club is going to be entering
00:00:56,000 --> 00:00:58,000
the sand a couple inches behind the ball,
00:00:58,000 --> 00:01:00,000
that's two inches behind the ball.
00:01:00,000 --> 00:01:03,000
So what we're going to do is we're going to push the club down
00:01:03,000 --> 00:01:05,000
to inches behind the ball.
00:01:05,000 --> 00:01:08,000
You can actually smack the sand and kind of get the feeling
00:01:08,000 --> 00:01:10,000
of the club down under the ball like so.
00:01:10,000 --> 00:01:12,000
Now, in doing so, you also want to make sure
00:01:12,000 --> 00:01:14,000
that the shaft is pretty vertical.
00:01:14,000 --> 00:01:15,000
It's not leaning forward.
00:01:15,000 --> 00:01:16,000
Lean backward.
00:01:16,000 --> 00:01:19,000
We'll just make it go higher, but it's still okay.
00:01:19,000 --> 00:01:22,000
So shaft is pretty vertical just like so.
00:01:22,000 --> 00:01:24,000
And then what you would do is you would take your swing
00:01:25,000 --> 00:01:28,000
trying to get the club to come right back into that spot.
00:01:28,000 --> 00:01:30,000
So it just gives you a kind of a visual.
00:01:30,000 --> 00:01:33,000
Obviously, this is illegal to do on the course,
00:01:33,000 --> 00:01:35,000
but when you're practicing, we do lots of stuff
00:01:35,000 --> 00:01:37,000
to do illegal on the course like drawing lines
00:01:37,000 --> 00:01:38,000
and touching the sand.
00:01:38,000 --> 00:01:41,000
So, example, you kind of smack the sand like so.
00:01:41,000 --> 00:01:46,000
And then try to get the club to enter right back
00:01:46,000 --> 00:01:49,000
where it was and lucky enough I did it
00:01:49,000 --> 00:01:51,000
and hit a nice little bunker shot,
00:01:51,000 --> 00:01:53,000
a few feet away from the pin.
00:01:53,000 --> 00:01:57,000
So, it's a good visual for being able to feel that right arm
00:01:57,000 --> 00:01:59,000
fully lengthening, get into the sand.
00:01:59,000 --> 00:02:02,000
If your tendency is to kind of flinch through the bunkers,
00:02:02,000 --> 00:02:05,000
this is a great deal that'll help you with that.
