Slow play practice is one of those games that looks really easy on paper, but takes a lot of patience to actually execute. When you are at the range, deliberately force yourself to wait in between shots. This can be combined with "Play a course on the range" for an added simulation. Use nothing but your normal preshot routine to get you into the zone for a shot. You may use things like books, writing emails, checking facebook or other distractions in between shots but start with 1 minute in between shots, and aim for 5 (or even 10) as you get closer to tournaments or if you simply want to challenge it.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:04,000
This range game is slow play practice.
00:00:04,000 --> 00:00:09,000
So this is to get you used to the pacing on the course, because it's very easy to get into
00:00:09,000 --> 00:00:12,000
rid them in a routine when I'm hitting ball after ball.
00:00:12,000 --> 00:00:14,000
But when I'm on the course, I'm going to have to wait.
00:00:14,000 --> 00:00:18,000
So in this game, you're basically going to force yourself to wait.
00:00:18,000 --> 00:00:23,000
So what you do, and you can designate a certain number of golf balls if you want, you
00:00:23,000 --> 00:00:26,000
can use the timer on your phone to make sure that you're actually doing it.
00:00:26,000 --> 00:00:29,000
But basically what you're going to do in slow play practice is you're going to take
00:00:29,000 --> 00:00:31,000
a certain amount of time between shots.
00:00:31,000 --> 00:00:34,000
A good starter version is about a minute.
00:00:34,000 --> 00:00:38,000
But if you can work up to doing three, four, even five minutes in between shots, it's
00:00:38,000 --> 00:00:43,000
really going to replicate what it's like on the course.
00:00:43,000 --> 00:00:49,000
I used to bring a book to practice, and so I would get up there and I would hit a shot.
00:00:49,000 --> 00:00:54,000
And then I would go back to my bag and I'd read a small section in the book.
00:00:54,000 --> 00:00:57,000
Come back, imagine it's the next shot on the course.
00:00:57,000 --> 00:01:01,000
Walk through my pre shot routine and see if I could recreate the shot the very first
00:01:01,000 --> 00:01:02,000
time.
00:01:02,000 --> 00:01:06,000
So it's a great way for transferring what you're doing on the range to on the course.
00:01:06,000 --> 00:01:10,000
And it's a really good way of testing to see if you're going to break down when you
00:01:10,000 --> 00:01:11,000
get on the course.
00:01:11,000 --> 00:01:15,000
Because if you can't trigger the swing that you want with just your pre shot routine,
00:01:15,000 --> 00:01:20,000
if you need to have rapid fire balls, there's no way that it's possibly going to work
00:01:20,000 --> 00:01:23,000
when you're under the gun and when you actually have to wait in between shots.
