Download "Stock Miss Matrix" to see what your feedback is telling you to do.
To use this matrix, simply identify your miss pattern in the first column on the left. Then read through the causes to decide which path to take. You can confirm if this is the right path by looking at video of your swing. Then, to decide what to fix, either choose a primary, a secondary, or an object fix. You can use the object fixes for short term results with either a primary or a secondary fix. Put in reps to groove a feel, then test it out on the course to make sure it's working.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:04,000
This concept video is the stock mismatrix.
00:00:04,000 --> 00:00:07,000
So I've got a copy of it right here, but hopefully you can print it out and take a look
00:00:07,000 --> 00:00:08,000
at it.
00:00:08,000 --> 00:00:11,000
I'm just going to walk you through the different boxes so that you understand what the heck
00:00:11,000 --> 00:00:12,000
we're talking about.
00:00:12,000 --> 00:00:18,000
So the stock mismatrix is basically a way for you to troubleshoot your swing based on
00:00:18,000 --> 00:00:20,000
either contact or ball flight.
00:00:20,000 --> 00:00:25,000
So the first column is looking at your misses.
00:00:25,000 --> 00:00:29,000
Now in order for this to work, you have to be a detective.
00:00:29,000 --> 00:00:33,000
You have to be very good at noticing the difference between a ball that starts straight
00:00:33,000 --> 00:00:35,000
and a ball that starts slightly right.
00:00:35,000 --> 00:00:40,000
Or a ball that goes right and doesn't curve very much versus a ball that starts straight
00:00:40,000 --> 00:00:41,000
and curves a lot.
00:00:41,000 --> 00:00:46,000
So you have to become a detective on where did I hit the club on the face?
00:00:46,000 --> 00:00:48,000
How did the ball curve?
00:00:48,000 --> 00:00:50,000
And where did the ball start?
00:00:50,000 --> 00:00:54,000
So this first column is looking at the different miss patterns.
00:00:54,000 --> 00:00:59,000
So I know that you can't see it too well in the version I'm holding up, but please take
00:00:59,000 --> 00:01:01,000
a look at the one that you printed out.
00:01:01,000 --> 00:01:06,000
So the first column is or the first box is looking at mostly a left path.
00:01:06,000 --> 00:01:11,000
So a left path is going to have typically a steeper angle of the tack.
00:01:11,000 --> 00:01:19,000
It's going to be associated with slight with slices, we shots, poles, toe contact or this
00:01:19,000 --> 00:01:21,000
left path.
00:01:21,000 --> 00:01:28,000
Typically the cause, which is the second box, is going to be from an open club face.
00:01:28,000 --> 00:01:33,000
So the club face is pointed right of the path and so then for a right hand golfer.
00:01:33,000 --> 00:01:37,000
And then I swing that whole path so that the face is pointed in the general direction
00:01:37,000 --> 00:01:40,000
of the target.
00:01:40,000 --> 00:01:46,000
Oftentimes this is going to be accompanied by a forward-road lunge or a cast.
00:01:46,000 --> 00:01:49,000
So it's not that you're just taking one bullet point and working across.
00:01:49,000 --> 00:01:53,000
It's that each one of these boxes kind of describes similar patterns.
00:01:53,000 --> 00:02:01,000
So if you're having these any of these causes that you may see on video and you're
00:02:01,000 --> 00:02:07,000
having this mispedant, this is going to be your primary fix and primary fixes are going
00:02:07,000 --> 00:02:14,000
to be down swing fixes because down swing is ultimately where I'm kind of doing the production
00:02:14,000 --> 00:02:18,000
of speed and how I'm really applying that speed in the golf ball.
00:02:18,000 --> 00:02:21,000
So this is going to be have the biggest long-term effect.
00:02:21,000 --> 00:02:29,000
The secondary fixes or object fixes are going to be either set up or backswing fixes or
00:02:29,000 --> 00:02:31,000
you know what I'm just having a hard time focusing on these movements.
00:02:31,000 --> 00:02:35,000
So I'm going to do something like the gate drill where I just put an object in the way
00:02:35,000 --> 00:02:41,000
that prevents the club from doing what's common in this mispedant and I'll figure out
00:02:41,000 --> 00:02:46,000
a feeling that will work well temporarily to fix it.
00:02:46,000 --> 00:02:48,000
They can also be used in conjecture.
00:02:48,000 --> 00:02:54,000
So you could be doing a primary fix with the secondary fix or with an object drill.
00:02:54,000 --> 00:03:01,000
So for example, if I'm having this slice pattern, the primary fixes during transition
00:03:01,000 --> 00:03:08,000
are going to be the motorcycle, the Jackson 5, initiating with the downswing or having
00:03:08,000 --> 00:03:12,000
this club flattener what I call Zoro loops.
00:03:12,000 --> 00:03:18,000
During release, typically what would happen is in order to make that path go left,
00:03:18,000 --> 00:03:22,000
I'm going to chicken wing a little bit so working on the extending your arms.
00:03:22,000 --> 00:03:27,000
But what I want you to see is that all of these movements all kind of build around each
00:03:27,000 --> 00:03:30,000
other and help balance that pattern.
00:03:30,000 --> 00:03:34,000
You don't have to think about them all, but your brain is going to make some type of
00:03:34,000 --> 00:03:38,000
change to all of these if one of them is working.
00:03:38,000 --> 00:03:42,000
So then that helps you understand how to go across this way.
00:03:42,000 --> 00:03:47,000
Let's talk about these different mispedaers and then you can take a look at the sheet
00:03:47,000 --> 00:03:49,000
and let me know if you have any questions.
00:03:49,000 --> 00:03:54,000
So the next pattern is going to be more of the right path, which is typically the hooker
00:03:54,000 --> 00:03:59,000
blocked depending on the club face and can also be heel contact.
00:03:59,000 --> 00:04:03,000
The most common causes for that are going to be early extension or early trail side
00:04:03,000 --> 00:04:08,000
till we got videos that help you understand all that.
00:04:08,000 --> 00:04:12,000
In terms of behind the body extension and set of flexion, etc.
00:04:12,000 --> 00:04:18,000
That's going to be solved with believe it or not also the motorcycle, but totally different
00:04:18,000 --> 00:04:19,000
body fixes.
00:04:19,000 --> 00:04:24,000
So the leftward path is typically going to be more of an upper body spin, the rightward
00:04:24,000 --> 00:04:29,000
path is typically going to be more of an extension or lower body German movement.
00:04:29,000 --> 00:04:35,000
If you're hitting it fat or thin, this gives you common reasons why you may have that
00:04:35,000 --> 00:04:43,000
type of ground contact and some of the object drills are going to be as impactful as
00:04:43,000 --> 00:04:50,000
any of the primary fixes just because it will help you oftentimes those fat and thin
00:04:50,000 --> 00:04:56,000
can be really subtle changes are required where when the path is really off it and you're
00:04:56,000 --> 00:05:00,000
having a lot of curve to the ball, you're typically going to need to invest a little bit
00:05:00,000 --> 00:05:02,000
of time to solve the issue.
00:05:02,000 --> 00:05:06,000
Top-ups really have one major problem.
00:05:06,000 --> 00:05:11,000
Power has a handful of problems but they all kind of relate to sequencing and what's going
00:05:11,000 --> 00:05:18,000
on in transition and then consistency typically relates to where is the centerness of my
00:05:18,000 --> 00:05:23,000
pivot and then what's going on in the release or where is the location of my sternum I
00:05:23,000 --> 00:05:27,000
shouldn't say the centerness of my pivot but where is the sternum during the release and where
00:05:27,000 --> 00:05:30,000
am I what am I doing during the release.
00:05:30,000 --> 00:05:34,000
So these will give you different places to look within the site to help you figure out
00:05:34,000 --> 00:05:37,000
exactly how to solve it.
00:05:37,000 --> 00:05:41,000
Understand that your swing is going to have a pattern that it gravitates towards for pretty
00:05:41,000 --> 00:05:45,000
much as long as you play this game and so by understanding these different patterns
00:05:45,000 --> 00:05:49,000
it'll help you feel not so lost when you're having your bad shots on the course.
