Transition Drill Circuit

In this drill circuit video, I walk you through a simple series of drills to help you chuck the pieces of the transition into one pattern.

  1. Delivery Position
  2. Delivery and Go
  3. Jackson 5
  4. Delivery Pump Drill
  5. Zorro Swings

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:04,000
In this drill circuit video, we're going to look at transition.

00:00:04,000 --> 00:00:09,000
So a drill circuit is basically taking a handful of drills and putting them in an ordered

00:00:09,000 --> 00:00:13,000
circuit so that you can work on all the different pieces without having to think of them

00:00:13,000 --> 00:00:15,000
all at the same time.

00:00:15,000 --> 00:00:19,000
So for this drill circuit, what we're going to do is work on the arms first, so we'll

00:00:19,000 --> 00:00:24,000
do delivery position and then delivering go and then we'll bring the body back in, we'll

00:00:24,000 --> 00:00:29,000
do the Jackson 5 and the pump drill and then we'll use Zoro swings as kind of a tempo

00:00:29,000 --> 00:00:32,000
feeling to tie it all together at the end.

00:00:32,000 --> 00:00:37,000
So first one we're going to do is going to be delivery position.

00:00:37,000 --> 00:00:45,000
So what I'm going to get used to here is the feeling of this drop, pronation, supination

00:00:45,000 --> 00:00:50,000
of my arms with the motorcycle, so it's kind of dropping just like so.

00:00:50,000 --> 00:00:54,000
So I've done that a handful of times, now I got a feeling of where I want my arms to

00:00:54,000 --> 00:00:58,000
get into before they're going to go out towards the golf ball.

00:00:58,000 --> 00:01:04,000
So now we can demonstrate one with the delivery and go because the delivery and go is

00:01:04,000 --> 00:01:10,000
basically getting into that position and then from here swinging through it.

00:01:10,000 --> 00:01:14,000
So from here with no backswing swinging through.

00:01:14,000 --> 00:01:22,000
Stand up, lose track of the golf ball from here, swinging through.

00:01:22,000 --> 00:01:26,000
Okay, so then the next piece, doesn't matter if you hit perfectly, you're just going to

00:01:26,000 --> 00:01:30,000
move on to the next piece, because that's part of the drill circuit.

00:01:30,000 --> 00:01:33,000
So the next one is going to be the Jackson 5.

00:01:33,000 --> 00:01:37,000
So now we're going to bump the hips just like so.

00:01:37,000 --> 00:01:42,000
While the upper body stays pretty centered, kind of feeling what that's going to be like

00:01:42,000 --> 00:01:44,000
when my arms are in delivery position.

00:01:44,000 --> 00:01:47,000
We'll do one more.

00:01:47,000 --> 00:01:50,000
Good, so I got a feeling of that getting into that left bit.

00:01:50,000 --> 00:01:52,000
Hit, got a little muscular feel.

00:01:52,000 --> 00:01:56,000
Next one we're going to do is the pump drill.

00:01:56,000 --> 00:02:01,000
So from here we're basically going to combine that fall into delivery with the Jackson

00:02:01,000 --> 00:02:04,000
5 and it'll basically look like this.

00:02:04,000 --> 00:02:10,000
You'll go one, two, and then let it go.

00:02:10,000 --> 00:02:16,000
So I'll demonstrate one.

00:02:16,000 --> 00:02:18,000
So you're going to go up to the top.

00:02:18,000 --> 00:02:22,000
We're going to pump, pump, and then let it go.

00:02:22,000 --> 00:02:26,000
Okay, hit that pretty good.

00:02:26,000 --> 00:02:32,000
Last one we're going to do is the Zoro swings, which the Zoro swings is just going to give

00:02:32,000 --> 00:02:39,000
me a feeling kind of that, the club falling through transition before I sling it out

00:02:39,000 --> 00:02:43,000
towards the ball.

00:02:43,000 --> 00:02:45,000
So I've got that feeling.

00:02:45,000 --> 00:02:50,000
Last piece I'm going to do is hit a ball, kind of focusing just on that Zoro feeling and

00:02:50,000 --> 00:03:04,000
trying to do the transition and the delivery position correctly.

00:03:04,000 --> 00:03:05,000
Kind of like that.

00:03:05,000 --> 00:03:11,000
And then regardless of how well I hit that ball, what I would do next is I would go through

00:03:11,000 --> 00:03:13,000
that circuit again.

00:03:13,000 --> 00:03:16,000
So basically I would start going through this.

00:03:16,000 --> 00:03:19,000
Start going through the delivery and go.

00:03:19,000 --> 00:03:22,000
Go back through the Jackson 5 and by going through it over and over again it gives

00:03:22,000 --> 00:03:24,000
me time gaps between when I'm hitting balls.

00:03:24,000 --> 00:03:26,000
So my brain learns more effectively.

00:03:26,000 --> 00:03:34,000
And it gives me isolated things to focus on, which I can then drive into my random practice

00:03:34,000 --> 00:03:35,000
once I get to that part of the practice routine.
