Re: extension at impact

Sjahari,

It sounds like it could be a release issue, please post a video of your swing so we can investigate it. You can also post the hack motion graph that accompanies the swing. That will give us even more insight.

Glad the picture help you visualize the wipe. Good luck!

Zach,
Yes, one thing I’ve learned is to trust the swing more than I trust my feels. I never assume I’m doing something because I’m thinking about it, I always verify with video or mirrors to make sure it’s actually happening. A little bit of hands o…

I don’t know if it’s complete, but it seems to get simpler for me rather than more complex. So it makes me feel like I’m on the right track :)

Zach,

Yes, that sounds like an accurate description. I hadn’t heard Tiger’s description of his trunk turning after impact. Do you have a video or article? I believe you, and I think it’s a great description for many, but I always try to validate s…

Re: Hitting behind w/ shallowing move and high on face on finesse wedge.

  By: Tyler F on Oct. 14, 2024, 10:27 a.m.

Hi Gabriel,

This is actually common. All things being equal, shallowing does move the low point backward. With the driver, it usually means that the arms are too involved in the release, here’s a quick little video showing what I mean.

Flat spot…

In that first position, what you feel will depend on your body. I think the majority of people feel more of the stretch on the lead side rather than the contraction on the trail side. But if it is the trail side the contraction moves like a wave fro…

Re: The last push

I've seen a few people lose speed as they adopted parts of the STS (Stock Tour Swing) but it's rare. Usually, golfers hit the ball further because they are getting more compression and using their body better.

Sometimes golfers lose distance, so w…

I use this picture in a lot of my presentations for coaches, with the question, "Who is doing the best stretch?" The trick with the golf swing is that "multiple" stretches are going on simultaneously. So usually when I'm showing a student a swing, i…

Hi Karl,

Welcome to the site. Hopefully we can get you more of the compression you're searching for. If you take a step back and look at your swing, I think there are three things that you'll want to try and work on. Hopefully one of them becomes y…

Re: Cannot achieve reverse angle tilt!

  By: Tyler F on Sept. 27, 2024, 8:16 p.m.

I often ask students, "how do you determine what to work on?" It's not an easy question.

So my question is, what are you hoping to accomplish by working on this tilt at the top of the swing? How will you know when it's good enough and time to move…

Re: Not sure what to prioritize in order to improve golf swing

Hi David,

Thanks for sharing your feedback. It's amazing how some of the subtle looks can be cleaned up by the shoulder blades. Self taught can be a real asset, but even the best self taught golfer can often benefit from a little guidance every no…

Hi Karl,

We are looking forward to seeing your swing. We can analyze from almost any angle, but it's easier when filmed from a conventional set up.

Here's a video I did on how to set up and use video to analyze your swing.

Thanks for sharing, It looks like some interesting data. It could be useful depending on its accuracy and when the points are measured. Hopefully I have a chance to play around with one in the near future. Keep me posted on what you find.

Re: Open stance/flexion at impact

The chopstick drill could help with the position, I'd give it a try. But looking at the swing from DTL it looks like the power source is more upper body dominant. Here's a picture of the DTL at shaft parallel on the way back and then on the way down…
