Re: Starting my self-coaching journey

  By: Tyler F on Dec. 30, 2023, 6:23 a.m.

Hi Andrew,

Good to hear from you again. Glad you're still grinding at it! Yes, the unhinge looks better. It looks better from both views in just past impact. The unhinge move is one of the anti-flip moves. Yes, it can feel more "stiff" at first, b…

Re: Hi Tyler!(no rush)

Happy Holidays to you too Zach!

Catching up on things after my travels, and the holidays. Still dealing with trying to find which box I put that thing I didn't think I'd need, but ended up needing right away 🙄

Anyway, to your questions:
As far as…

Great, let me know if you have any issues finding it, or implementing it.

Sorry for the delay, been moving into a new house and haven't had as much time.

I actually like your lead shoulder down in transition. I'd be curious to see what happens if you think about getting your lower body to lead the downswing a little more…

See the response above, just putting a break so I know where to start catching up next time!

The move is going. Definitely still dealing with boxes everywhere, and not knowing exactly where everything is. But it's all in the new house and out of the old one. So progress. Thanks for asking!

As far as the bad round/bad practice. It's hard to…

Re: Battling Early Extension

  By: Tyler F on Dec. 9, 2023, 5:39 a.m.

Glad you had a good week of practice. I think you're in the right ball park with the head on a pillow/merry-go-round combination.

When I look at your swing, I see more of a shoulder rotation issue than I see a pure early extension issue. The early…

Hi Zach,

I'll try to answer these in reverse order:

Yes, The antidote to pulling down is leaving the arms up...or powering the swing more from the legs and core, and less from the shoulders. With the lead arm only single arm, the latest videos lo…

Re: Driver Hooks

  By: Tyler F on Nov. 30, 2023, 3:28 p.m.

Looks like the ball flies to the right more from the face than from the path. It looks like you'll need a little earlier, or more, motorcycle movement to compliment the shoulder movement. The path looks better, looks a LOT less likely to hook :)

If…

Hi Zach,

Thanks for doing the one-arm swings. You can see how different the body position is at impact for the left and right arm. The left arm needs more body rotation and a little less slide. Especially to match your strongish lead hand grip. Bu…

Hey Zach,

I'm enjoying the swings and descriptions. Keep grinding at it. The goal is to get to a place where you don't need an extensive warm-up to have decent ball-striking. Let's see if we can figure out the keys.

I do think there's something t…

Re: Help: I need to improve or quit.

  By: Tyler F on Nov. 5, 2023, 10:31 a.m.

Hey Mark,

I think many other golfers will relate to your story. I think every golfer has periods when they want to quit. If you google, "professional golfers who almost quit", you'll get a bunch of examples.

I think when the times are rough, the…

Re: Hi Tyler!(no rush)

Hi Zach,

Thanks for the post. It sounds like you have a good diagnosis on the hook issue; Triangular divot, high right shoulder, and a stall/flip. So the next step is picking the element or two that will have the biggest impact. The stills help, b…

Hey Mark,

I am somewhat familiar with the program. I have done Guy Voyer's ELDOA training (I'm level 4 certified, in addition to a certified SOMA Trainer). And I've also spent time with both Dan Hellman and Janet Alexander who created the program …

Re: Wrist hinge - irons vs driver

  By: Tyler F on Oct. 30, 2023, 3:11 p.m.

Hi Rob,

A sweeping motion causing thin shots with the short irons sounds very plausible. I usually try to improve the contact by covering the ball better with the upper body (feeling more stacked over the lead foot). But if it's easier to add some…
