There are two ways to create shaft lean. One is with lunging the upper body on top of the golf ball and using the arms early, the other is with the upper body staying back and using the arms later. Most tour pros use the second strategy, but if you start trying to add the body pivot concept without working on the arms at the same time, it's easy to get the ball flight to go too high. See how it all fits together in this video.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:03,000
The Strel is bringing down the launch.
00:00:03,000 --> 00:00:08,000
Now often what will happen is as golfers are getting their body to power the swing
00:00:08,000 --> 00:00:11,000
and they're having a little bit more of this Jackson 5 or tilt.
00:00:11,000 --> 00:00:16,000
Frequently what will happen is they'll complain about hitting the ball too high.
00:00:16,000 --> 00:00:22,000
So they're used to hitting in a certain height and now it's going a little bit shorter
00:00:22,000 --> 00:00:25,000
because they're hitting a higher even though they're hitting it maybe more solidly.
00:00:25,000 --> 00:00:30,000
So there are two major ways that I can bring down the launch or two ways that I can kind of
00:00:30,000 --> 00:00:32,000
de-loft the club.
00:00:32,000 --> 00:00:36,000
One would be bringing that whole upper body on top of the golf ball.
00:00:36,000 --> 00:00:41,000
So now when my arms extend I have shaft lean but the problem with this method is my angle
00:00:41,000 --> 00:00:44,000
of a tight can get really really high.
00:00:44,000 --> 00:00:49,000
The other option would be I'm going to bring my hands more ahead of the golf ball.
00:00:49,000 --> 00:00:54,000
So what ends up happening is if I came from that first pattern, if I'm more of an arm
00:00:54,000 --> 00:01:01,000
pull in my upper body gets on top so that I can hit it solid then as I start to add this
00:01:01,000 --> 00:01:08,000
axis till Jackson 5 or better body sequencing as I stay more behind it if I do that same release
00:01:08,000 --> 00:01:13,000
now what ends up happening is the ball launches very high and actually tend to lose distance.
00:01:13,000 --> 00:01:20,000
So that's a good challenge for you is how can I stay more or less behind the golf ball
00:01:20,000 --> 00:01:27,000
use that white movement use the wrist mechanics to now bring that flight back down.
00:01:27,000 --> 00:01:32,000
Because if you do that when ends up happening is you get a shallower angle of attack even though
00:01:32,000 --> 00:01:37,000
you've de-lofted the club so your spin-loft comes down and you actually increase your distance.
00:01:37,000 --> 00:01:41,000
But there's usually a little bit of growing pains as you're adding some of this Jackson 5.
00:01:41,000 --> 00:01:46,000
If you find that you're hitting it too high when you do this then know that there's probably an issue
00:01:46,000 --> 00:01:51,000
in your release and you have to learn how to use your hands to bring the flight down.
00:01:51,000 --> 00:01:55,000
Not use that upper body lunge to bring the flight down or else you're typically going to
00:01:55,000 --> 00:01:57,000
stronger struggle with the longer clubs.
00:01:57,000 --> 00:02:10,000
So the combination of that wipe in Jackson 5 I'll exaggerate both as much as I can.
00:02:10,000 --> 00:02:12,000
Look something like that.
