Merry Go Round With Arms

This is a great drill to practice the combo move of rotation, flexion and side bend. Get into set up with a club across your shoulders, then turn so that it is pointing down toward the golf ball. From this position, extend your arms so that your elbows are squeezing together and extending toward the target. Make sure that the weight is on the front foot and toward the heel.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:06,000
If you remember the Mary Go Round drill from the impact section, this is adding going from

00:00:06,000 --> 00:00:09,000
impact to this new follow-through position.

00:00:09,000 --> 00:00:13,000
So you're going to go through the same steps that we went through for the Mary Go Round,

00:00:13,000 --> 00:00:18,000
club across your shoulder, sticking out to whichever hand dominance you are, and then

00:00:18,000 --> 00:00:22,000
going so that the club looks like it's hitting the ball.

00:00:22,000 --> 00:00:29,000
Now from here, I want you to extend your arm straight away from your chest, just like so,

00:00:29,000 --> 00:00:34,000
just your left hand pointed somewhere behind you.

00:00:34,000 --> 00:00:39,000
So you're going to practice going to this Mary Go Round position, just like so.

00:00:39,000 --> 00:00:43,000
Remember making sure that it doesn't go to level, it's actually pointing down close to

00:00:43,000 --> 00:00:44,000
the golf ball.

00:00:44,000 --> 00:00:49,000
So it's pointing down close to the golf ball, and then from here that right arm is going

00:00:49,000 --> 00:00:54,000
to extend, and that left hand is going to be pointed behind you, that right hand is going

00:00:54,000 --> 00:00:55,000
to be pointed behind you.

00:00:55,000 --> 00:00:59,000
So I don't want you to be extending your arm so that your hands are right hand is pointing towards

00:00:59,000 --> 00:01:01,000
the sky and you're left hand towards the ground.

00:01:01,000 --> 00:01:06,000
You want them pointed somewhere back behind you just like so.

00:01:06,000 --> 00:01:11,000
So the Mary Go Round position, and then your arms are going to be fully extended, getting

00:01:11,000 --> 00:01:15,000
those elbows to feel like they're squeezing together.

00:01:15,000 --> 00:01:19,000
You're going to be continuing this right shoulder down, and those hands are pointing behind

00:01:19,000 --> 00:01:21,000
you.

00:01:21,000 --> 00:01:25,000
So that's the Mary Go Round, going from impact to the follow-through position.
