Mach 3 speed up front and uppercut question

  By: Mark L on Jan. 27, 2025, 2:48 p.m.

I have read Tyler speak highly of Romatowski's Mach 3 speed training on this site. I'm curious about two things Romatowski teaches in Mach 3 - speed out front and moving the trail arm in the follow through as an uppercut.

I'm thinking these are more feels than real movements when they translate into the actual golf swing.

But am I right? Do they concepts/approaches in speed training make sense to train for the golf swing?

Hi Mark,

In general, I like the rope training and speed concepts taught in Mach 3. I have a few videos that I think align with the "speed up and in front" idea.

And a couple of oldies on this topic

I do think they are feels, so they have to be monitored to make sure you don't fall into some common pitfalls. (bending the arms to create the up, too much tilt or flat shoulder plane, pulling the lead arm behind the body to pull through to name a few).

I think you can add it to your training program without fear. Good luck!

Happy Golfing,
Tyler

Awesome, thanks Tyler.

Somehow, I missed those videos. The first two will go well with my martial arts training - even though I am an old guy now. :)

I bought a Jetstick and made an IronWhip with a shaft and some exercise band ribbon. I'm debating on a SpeedBomber and I think I'm going to make a Shallowstick or a Mamba.

It's easy to miss some of the videos, I'm working on that this year :)

I think all the tools have merit. Anything that helps you sequence the body from the ground up will be helpful. And yes, I think some of the tools can be made easily, but some are more complex and it's easier to just buy them from the source!

happy golfing,
Tyler
