Early Extension and Open Hips ¶
By: Joey L on Feb. 7, 2025, 9:31 p.m.
Been working on my L to L drill recently to tidy things up. I used to extend my trail leg a lot and get very bent and close to the ball with the lead.
Now that things are a bit cleaner, I really want to work on my hips opening at impact/early extension.
In the video below the first day is me just cleaning things up generally.
Day two shows me trying two feels to open up. One is just increasing the tempo a bit to see if my hips will open but they seem to stall. The second half of those are me really exaggerating the feel of hips first. Impact looks "better" in the sense that my hips are more open but it feels weak, like I'm spinning and maybe I'm just faking it?
Day three is me trying to blend the feel from day two while also paying attention to me trail elbow in relationship to my pocket, but the impact position is back to being flat.
Wondering if anyone has meta-analysis of my conclusions or just suggestions of what drills/feels they believe might help.
Thanks ahead of time!
