Stuck Arms

  By: Garrett F on Dec. 18, 2024, 5 p.m.

Tyler,

I have had a heck of a time getting my arms back in front of me on the downswing and have a steep and deep pattern that causes a host of issues. I have a big turn in backswing a flat arm plane so maybe it’s a backswing issue but when I lift…

High right shoulder

  By: Garrett F on April 7, 2024, 2:24 p.m.

What are some drills/feelings that help with keeping the right shoulder down in transition/release. My right shoulder tends to stay high during transition/release but when I try to keep it down I end up lowering upper body instead and hit pop ups wi…

Swing Request : analysis paralysis

  By: Garrett F on Jan. 28, 2024, 6:51 p.m.

Hi Tyler,

Continuing to work through the videos and models and was hoping you could take a look at my swing. I’m very much stuck thinking about all sorts of concepts and which I should approach first. That over analyzing is leading to poor play. Ho…

Double cross

  By: Garrett F on Aug. 5, 2022, 11:58 a.m.

This game is tough lol…

Whenever I work to improve swing, I end up with an unplayable double cross with driver and/or right misses with irons. Self coaching has been fun but if not kept in check it seems to encourage analysis paralysis. Do y’all mi…

Right hip depth

  By: Garrett F on July 10, 2022, 9:51 a.m.

Tyler,

How important is right hip depth in backswing? Additionally, how does one gain right hip depth without sitting into it that seems to then set up a early extension jump into transition to find balance?

Thanks in advance.

Como axe drill and AMG

Tyler- curious to hear your thoughts on comos thoughts on adding width and extension of right arm from the top rather than external shoulder rotation and delaying right arm extension with the wipe in your model of golf swing.

Pros/cons to each mode…

Re: Right hip/knee on downswing

  By: Garrett F on Aug. 1, 2021, 11:53 a.m.

I think I was getting lost by reading your initial response as 2 different options (chest down vs. continuous rotation) rather than interrelated (chest down and continuous rotation). For someone like me will that feel like an over the top move with …

Thank you for clarification. Do you mind also elaborating on your comment “ it might be easier for you to feel a continued body rotation with the upper body closer to the ball idea.”

I’m actually still learning the lingo so I don’t quite understand. Do you mind going at it a different way?

Right hip/knee on downswing

  By: Garrett F on July 10, 2021, 11:38 a.m.

Hi Tyler- been working on trying to get better lower body action and reduce early extension. You had previously recommended a stick in front of trail knee to improve lower body action. See the two videos below. One is regular swing with no intent, o…

Spider-Man the DTL Camera

  By: Garrett F on Nov. 17, 2020, 4:57 p.m.

Was watching your video on different shallowest of club and had an ah ha moment that may or may not help others. Forearm rotation + motorcycle move to me feels like I’m shooting Spider-Man’s web with my right wrist at the down the line camera. I kno…

Putter Misses on Toe

  By: Garrett F on Nov. 3, 2020, 1:18 p.m.

Tyler- How would you diagnose causes of missing putts on the toe of the putter face? I'd say 20-30% of my putts seem to miss on the toe and 100% of the time if its a mishit, its on the toe.

Any thoughts?

Re: Jackson 5 vs. Squat/turn/push

This was a fantastic point. Seems like so much of golf teaching is a causation vs correlation discussion which can be so confusing to a student that has a knowledge gap.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Jackson 5 vs. Squat/turn/push

  By: Garrett F on Oct. 26, 2020, 5:01 p.m.

Seems like in the teaching community there is an emphasis on sitting, rotating, and pushing late vs. lateral first then rotation. Was curious on your opinion on this Tyler as the video library seems to focus on many different concepts with lower bod…
