One of the cornerstones of a good driver of the golf ball is having a shallow sweeping motion through the ball. This is accomplished by having the upper body behind the golf ball and the lower body far enough forward. This combination creates the necessary axis tilt for the driver. A great way to train this is to try and hit balls off a tee with a 7 iron. If your upper body gets on top of the ball, your attack angle will be too steep and you will break the tee.
