Re: Kinematic Sequence Question

  By: Tyler F on June 26, 2021, 1:44 p.m.

Having something for the muscle to resist allows it to create more force. Imagine trying to life an empty milk jug, you couldn't activate your muscles nearly as fully as if you were trying to lift a heavy weight. Same rule applies. The kinematic seq…

Re: How my path feels when trying to fix early extension

  By: Tyler F on June 18, 2021, 9:43 a.m.

When looking to analyze solid contact, I would primarily look at the face on view. It'll show shaft lean and low point tendencies the best. If you'd like, post a face on video and we can look at why it wouldn't feel springy.

As far as the ulnar de…

Re: Pulling the ball straight flight

  By: Tyler F on June 16, 2021, 9:28 a.m.

Hey Frank, thanks for posting your swing.

I think you're on the right track. Looking at your video, I think we can rule out the hard over the top pull. Yours is more of a club face too closed pull. That said, there's a couple of match ups that mak…

Re: How my path feels when trying to fix early extension

  By: Tyler F on June 16, 2021, 9:03 a.m.

I don't see any real early extension move in that swing you posted. So if that was your main concern, then I'd say whatever you're feeling is on the right track. Some common feel descriptions when you fix early extension are:
- more "on top of it" a…

Re: Kinematic Sequence Question

  By: Tyler F on June 13, 2021, 9:41 a.m.

It looks like you didn't quite finish your last thought.

But I'll give an opinion about the first part. The kinematic sequence is well known for rotational sports. The exact timing depends on a few factors (like how long or heavy the implement is)…

Re: Pulling the ball straight flight

Hi Frank,

Thanks for the background and for checking out my site. If you really want to get to the bottom of it, then I'd recommend posting a video of your swing (either doing the drill or an actual swing) to see why the ball is starting to the lef…

Re: G Box

Hi Jeremy,

I had a student bring one in this week. I'll film a video on a couple ways I'd probably like to use it. In general, I like it because it's versatile and can be used a couple of different ways!

Stay tuned!

Re: Fred Leech Swing

  By: Tyler F on June 6, 2021, 9:34 a.m.

Hi Fred,

Getting to know your swing and your pattern is the first step. I agree with your overall assessment. Let me try to add a couple connections for you.

Control pattern:
At the top of the swing, your arms have worked more around your body (…

Re: Finesse Wedge - Single Club or Multiple Clubs?

  By: Tyler F on May 24, 2021, 10:19 a.m.

I personally like to have a little bit of versatility. So typically I would have slightly different grind styles for my lob wedge, sand wedge, gap wedge. Also, I sometimes switched out wedges for certain courses. I guess the real question is looking…

Re: Putting it together

  By: Tyler F on May 24, 2021, 10:05 a.m.

Yea, it's definitely a journey. If I had a dollar for every time my warm up was good and my round wasn't as good (or vice versa)!

As far as your question about choosing a model, height and build probably isn't a bad place to start. However, no two …

Re: Loosing Posture

  By: Tyler F on May 17, 2021, 2:26 p.m.

Hi Luis,

Welcome to the site, I'm glad you're enjoying it.

It looks to me like the loss of posture is helping you close the clubface. Looking at your video, I think we need to get a little bit of clubface rotation. Here's a couple of video to hel…

Re: Putting it together

  By: Tyler F on May 17, 2021, 2:17 p.m.

Hey Ryan,

Definitely an upgrade in your lower body action. I'd stick with it and keep it a high priority. It's probably an easier playing thought than working on the arm rotation at this point.

But, yes, the arm motion will help compliment the b…

Re: Bending angle from the hips at adress

  By: Tyler F on May 10, 2021, 9:22 a.m.

Bending more from the hips can help create the slack to help create lag and shaft lean. Typically, if you start too tall, then you will have to throw the arms to reach the ball.

Yes, your hands would be a little bit lower if you bent more at the h…

Re: Tyler’s WGFS 2018 presentation/Tommy!

  By: Tyler F on May 10, 2021, 9:16 a.m.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the comment. I do like to dig into the why and how of the body movements more than most. I'm glad when I hear that some golfers appreciate the depth! There are a couple things to comment on in your post. First, it's really har…

Re: Muscle Engagement

  By: Tyler F on May 1, 2021, 7:44 a.m.

Hi Kevin,

That's a bit of a loaded question. If you want to post a video of your swing, I'll have a much better guess. There are a handful of reasons that golfers come over the top and what you feel depends mostly on what your pattern is now.

I t…
