Re: Kids Golf

  By: Tyler F on Aug. 15, 2019, 3:01 p.m.

Hi Clara,

I think the most important thing for kids is giving them opportunities and keeping it fun. Make sure you play from an appropriate distance so that they get to practice all aspects of the game. Playing a 400 yard whole when you only hit it…

I agree with Chris, It definitely looks like you're moving things in the right direction with the lead leg action.

Re: Trail elbow and shallowing

Chris, It's possible that he could benefit from a longer backswing. I would get it from more extension rather than turn. Also, I think that would be something to work on when you have enough time to get used to a big change in timing. If you haven't…

How often do you practice alignment?

  By: Tyler F on Aug. 11, 2019, 6:41 p.m.

This season, I was paying attention to the "warm-up" channel at the majors. Here's a list of players who used an alignment stick during warm-up.

PS - These are the best players in the world, but they know how important alignment to the target is t…

Keith,

That's a great suggestion.

We are working on solving this issue, but it'll take some time. As Chris Adkins indicated in his response, we've had an underground certification going on for the last 10 months or so. We will be launching it pub…

Re: Driver push ball drill question

  By: Tyler F on Aug. 11, 2019, 9:33 a.m.

Instead of the push ball, I'd just do the door jam drill. Pushing a yoga block or something into a wall. You'd want to push at about the height of the ball with the hands almost even with the ball instead of way in front of it.

Re: Shoulder Alignment at Address

  By: Tyler F on Aug. 11, 2019, 9:31 a.m.

I think better golfers have a tendency to be overly shallow rather than overly steep. Your observations, setting up a little open, would help balance this out. Unfortunately, my data is set based on the body position at set up, not to a target line.…

Re: Have you tried the push ball drill? - Tour Validated

  By: Tyler F on Aug. 11, 2019, 9:25 a.m.

I like your little recipe. Sounds like a very effective session for this drill.

Unfortunately, the push ball is harder to do with the driver. Instead, I'd just have you push up against a yoga block against the wall. Like the door jam drill instead…

Re: Left leg straight too early

  By: Tyler F on Aug. 11, 2019, 9:23 a.m.

The buckle almost always comes from overuse of the hands and underuse of the hips through impact. As far as the leg straightening too soon, I think a big part of it is the lateral movement of the upper body off the ball as you set the club. See the …

I agree with your assessment. From the face on, I'd work on delivery position. It's very similar to what you're working on with the arm external rotation to help shallow the shaft. In the attached picture, see if you can get the right arm more in fr…

Shane Lowry - Lead arm only?

  By: Tyler F on Aug. 9, 2019, 2 p.m.

A close up of Shane Lowry's swing reveals that his trail hand is off the club during his downswing. Other golfers who do this are Kevin Stadler and Brian Gay. If you have a trail arm that wants to take over your swing you have two options to solve i…

Have you tried the push ball drill? - Tour Validated

  By: Tyler F on Aug. 5, 2019, 9:02 p.m.

It's fun to see a tour pro using some of the drills we promote on the site. I've used this drill for lots of different impact issues. It's a great way to play with timing, bracing, arm extension direction, lead wrist flexion and more.
